Post-doc
Phd degree in 2022, dissertation pdf (in Hungarian with English summary)
Research interest:
I am an assistant research fellow in the HUN-REN-PE Evolutionary Ecology Research Group. I finished my PhD studentship at the University of Veterinary Medicine (Budapest) in September 2017, my supervisors were Dr. Andrea Harnos and Dr. Tibor Csörgő. During the years of PhD fellowship, I worked with bird ringing datasets, and I also elaborated and tested a protocol for molecular sexing of birds. My research interest focused on the sex-related differences in the migration strategy of Passerines and the effects of avian malaria parasites on migration phenology.
Currently, I am investigating the effects of environmental variability on avian brood sex ratio and sex-related patterns in mortality. With molecular tools, I explore the genetic structure of urban and non-urban great tit populations to calculate the genetic distance between breeding populations and model movements between populations. My new project is to study the relationship between risk-taking behaviour and polymorphisms in two neurotransmitter-associated genes in the Great tit. As part of this, I do molecular sexing, microsatellite genotyping and candidate gene genotyping at the University of Veterinary Medicine (Budapest) in collaboration with the Molecular Ecology Research Group and at the Department of Medical Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Pathobiochemistry of Semmelweis University (Budapest) in collaboration with Dr. Zsolt Rónai in the Molecular Genetic Research Group.
The genetic project is founded by a NKFIH research grant (K132490).
