PhD student
Biography and research interest:
I completed my BSc and MSc degrees in Nature Conservation Engineering at the Szent István University in Gödöllő. I am deeply committed to the protection of nature and to inspiring others to appreciate and care for it as well. I have been actively involved in birding since 2017—my passion for birds and bird ringing began at the Ócsa Bird Ringing Station, where I first gained experience in this field. Later, I obtained my bird ringing license for passerine species.
Both my BSc and MSc theses were written under the supervision of Dr. Tibor Csörgő and Dr. Márton Herényi, focusing first on bird hybridization and later on population changes in the Hungarian treecreeper species. With my MSc thesis, I achieved first place at the Scientific Students’ Association (TDK), as well as a special award and an OTDK special award.
I am a PhD student at the Department of Genetics, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), supervised by Dr. János Barna. My research focuses on age determination in birds using epigenetic methods.
I first became connected with the HUN-REN-PE Evolutionary Ecology Research Group in 2021, when I worked as a field assistant. Later, together with Dr. András Liker and Dr. János Barna, we were awarded the Cooperative Doctoral Program (KDP-2021) Fellowship, and since then I have been working in the research group as a research assistant.
As part of my PhD research, I mainly perform molecular laboratory work (including PCR and qPCR techniques, dot-blot analysis, Western blot, etc.) at the Faculty of Science, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE TTK). In my most recent experiment (6mA-DIP-seq), I am collaborating with the Genome Metabolism Research Group at the HUN-REN Institute of Natural Sciences.
